The Most Disastrous Shopping Adventure

Let's start from the beginning. My friend Van was having a sweet sixteen party and it was a masquerade. Yay!! So excited because i've never been to a masquerade before. But i didn't have anything suitable to wear. If you know me, you know that i do not wear dresses. Therefore i do not have dresses. The only pretty dress i have is the white ruffled lace one i wore to the Junior Dance. But i can't exactly wear that again. So i decided to buy a pretty dress that suits me to wear to Van's party.

First i went shopping by myself. It was actually an accident because i was meant to go to my primary school to get back my work experience form but they lost it!! :( In sadness i decided to go shopping but my friends already left so i decided to go shopping solo. It's actually very efficient when you do that, even though it is not as fun. I walked around the shopping centre for many hours in my school uniform but couldn't find anything :( Finally i saw this one dress. It was orange, it had black lace details and it suited my figure and personality. I really liked it. Yah~ But me being the cheapo that i am decided to bargain with the shopkeeper. When she didn't budge on the price i left the shop thinking i will find something better. Yep, very smart choice Marie. On the train back home i sneezed three times.

I started planning out shopping trips with my friends. After much arrangement we decided on a date when everyone could go. But i got sick! NOOOOO.... But i still need to find a dress! So i went out to my local area and had a look at the stores there. I was able to find a $4 dollar dress - it fitted nicely! So on the same day while coughing and sneezing i decided to take a train to go to this shopping centre to get a mask there (the same shopping centre i went by myself before). So i got the mask that was silver and looked so grand and i went home feeling very happy.

But when i went home and tried on the dress with the mask, it didn't match! The mask was too overwhelming compared to the dress... :'( So i felt really sad and kept thinking about what to do. I finally made a decision.

The next day i went to my local area again and returned the dress. Shopkeeper was very nice and gave me a refund even though they don't usually give it. Then while coughing and sneezing i took a train to that shopping centre again and exchanged the silver mask for a less grand-looking one. But the lady wouldn't let me because the mask i wanted to exchange for was worth less than the silver one, and that wasn't allowed. So after much talking i managed to convince the next person in line to combine our purchases so i didn't have to buy something else. That was embarrasing... Then yay off i springed to buy the orange dress that stayed in my mind for almost a week. The shopkeeper must have thought 'Haha that girl again'.

That's the end of my series of unfortunate events. It happened with the intention of saving money, but it actually burnt my pocket even more. You see if i had bought the dress and the mask the first time i saw it, i would have saved 10 dollars of train fare and more than 4 hours of precious time i could have spent sleeping and recovering from my cold. Aiyah... I feel so stupid.

But everything turned out fine because yesterday at the party i received compliments for my dress. Yay! So nice having friends :)
